You’ve heard of bulletproof glass. Or, at least, you’ve seen it in the movies. But what about bullet resistance window film?

Though it doesn’t carry the same notoriety as bulletproof glass, these window films are becoming increasingly popular. Not only do they provide a similar type of protection that can be useful for high risk places like schools, banks, and government buildings, but they’re much cheaper.

Intrigued? You should be. Here’s everything you need to know about bullet resistant window films and the benefits for Phoenix properties.

What Exactly Is “Bullet Resistance” Window Film?

Just like the name implies, bullet resistance window films are glass laminates that actually have the ability to resist shattering under gunfire. They’re strategically installed on windows and glass areas that are high risk like school entrances, bank teller windows, and skylights.

How Does It Work?

Upon application, a special primer called C-Bond seeps deep into the pores of glass, where it goes to work to actually reconfigure its molecular makeup, making it stronger and more flexible. This makes the glass harder to break – so difficult, in fact, that not even bullets can do it.

The Installation Process

The process for installing bullet resistance window film for your Phoenix property is slightly different than the steps required for a standard security window film. First, the glass is cleaned, then the primer is applied. Then, a layer of security window film is added. Next, another layer of primer is added on top of the first film. Then a second security film goes on top. This process is repeated until the system is complete and multiple layers of C-Bond primer and film have been stacked together.

Protective Benefits

Bullet resistance window films not only protect against gunfire but also:

  • Monsoon winds
  • Break-in attempts
  • Golf balls and baseballs
  • Flying rocks
  • Other forces of impact
